Having been a Joomla fan for the past 3 years, we've downloaded and installed many image slideshow extensions in the market. Images on the Web are a very important commodity, as we have to abide by their copyright laws and licensing options. Therefore, we feel that the best way to present images on the Web with these protections are through Flash. There are many image slideshows on the market, but none has captured our attention than this one.
When JoomlaShine first came out with its image slideshow extension, it was marvellous. Take a look here for a real application. This extension appeared as a Joomla 1.0 module back then. Today, JoomlaShine's ImageShow extension is even more amazing. It is a much bigger extension than before as it supports a lot more new features.
Instead of a just a number of images, ImageShow now supports lists of images, called showlists. A showlist can contain a number of images, depending upon the license. A free license allows 10 images, but a paid license allows beyond 10. The images can be hosted in a variety of locations - your website, Picassa, Flickr, Phoca or Joom Gallery.
How you display your images can be configured in what we call a Showcase. There are many factors to consider, including autoplay, overlay effects and watermark, to name a few. It takes a little bit of effort to get used to these configurable parameters, but it's worth it.
ImageShow comes bundled as a Component, Module and Plugin. With a plugin, one can embed the sildeshow in one's article.
Not many Joomla extensions offer adequate documentation. However, the documentation for this extension is pretty outstanding. Anything else that is not addressed by the documentation can be addressed in the online forums.
